Hello everyone
Well, and maybe no surprise here, I’m back on the pans!! Inspired by the thought of Around the World on a Plate and Around the World in a Glass.
In our weekend of Land, Language and Culture, 11th – 13th July, the setting will be very much here in Wales but to start the journey I have chosen to feature Provence, and there’s a story here. I have always been a fan of Robert Carrier (here’s showing my age!) and his version of a Beef en Daube included a brandy from the Bandol, which I had never heard of and I was having trouble finding it so I went online and wrote to a producer who kindly offered to send me 50cl at my own risk, this for £72, or I could try a list of six of their outlets in England – whilst these all stocked their wines, under the Tempier label, none of them stocked their Brandy. However, my luck was in when I called Lea and Sandeman as their sales director happened to answer the phone and he offered to import it for me – they have been our wine suppliers ever since, and how wonderfully refreshing they are to work with! Friday 30th May is the night, service from 6.00pm
It’s now thirty years since I began the building on cultural links with Ireland so it’s highly appropriate that that some notable anniversaries are celebrated. In June we take the Simffoni Mara Trio of David Pepper, piano; Daniel Davies, cello and Georgina Stalbow, soprano on a mini tour to Counties Wexford and Waterford, and in our weekend of Land, Language and Culture, 11th – 13th July we welcome some of the giants of Welsh and international culture to the West Wales Arts Centre – these to include the harpist Elinor Bennett, poet Menna Elfyn and writer / broadcaster Jon Gower, all of whom have made significant contributions to the project development.
